@Jack Yaz, how about extending the restart Entware services to allowing restarting individual services? For instance if I edit /jffs/config/ntp.conf and want to restart ntp only?

Alternately, can you add a restart ntp to ntpmerlin? :)

Thanks.

I did look into listing the individual S-files from /opt/etc/init.d, can't remember why I didn't implement it. Time to revisit it

Hi. Before I cause myself problems (I have a checkered history of that....) what do the menu options, WiFi, Web Interface, and Internet Connection do?

thanks

Most of the commands are restart commands. Web interface for example is good for when the WEBgui isn't responding through your browser, so running that command restarts that service so it will become available.

It would be cool to have a restart OVPN client and server instances. :)

When I check for an update it throws this error, @Jack Yaz
Code:
Choose an option: u

(23) Failed writing body
scmerlin: No new version - latest is v1.0.3

Press enter to continue...

Iirc it's a pipe closing too early, not sure what to do to solve that

I can confirm that it is working on my old RT-N66U with Merlin's 380.70. The only strange thing is highlighted on the attached image.

Thanks for you making a cool script.
I searched and couldn't find the answer. Could you please advice if we can start/ stop services from terminal, not from the menu?
So for instance I would like to turn off Skynet at hour x and start it at hour y, daily, using cron.

All the best,
amplatfus

@amplatfus what is the purpose of disabling Skynet? Unless your router goes offline at those hours, it doesn't seem to be a good idea to implement?

First of all thank you for the message.
Now, the reason is when Skynet is active, my AC88 speedtests with spdMerlin add-on in Asus Merlin 384.15 is lower then expected with about 90 Mbps.
In the same config status, but measuring the speed from devices, is not affected.
When disableing the Skynet firewall, the spead measured in router is back to normal.
Upload is not affected, but is contractual lower.
So I would like to disable Skynet by script, do the scheduled spdMerlin speedtest and than enable it back.
I am open to any ideas.
Thank you so much,
amplatfus

My idea (and what I do myself on my router/network) is not doing the speed tests, except manually, when I'm bored. :)

When i tried to issue scMerlin command "reboot router" it gave me "terminated" message and exited to command prompt without actually restarting my router.
