New Around Here
Hello,

Im looking new router for my new flat (350mbit bridged cablemodem connection). 5-10 wireless devices, 1 with video streaming. 1TB/day backups transfers to nas. _Stability_ is what i want the most. oh yeah.. horizotal model wanted.

Cash to spend usd=400, eur=300.

Thanks.

To start, just grab an AC all-in-one like an AC68U or R7000. If the packet handling turns out to be flaky for whatever reason (of which there are many), then just put it AP mode and wire in something beefier -- edgerouter lite/poe, mikrotik 750GL, etc. That way you've still got the AC wifi, but the workload is split out to better units for each role. Win-win. :)

If you want a horizontal model, consider an AC66U, which you can find for around $130- $170 (at least in the U.S. and online). It's very stable at this point and will easily handle exactly what you describe. The AC68U is designed as a vertical, upright unit, so it wouldn't really fit the criteria you mention. Of course, the AC68 can be put on its side and the antennas can be pointed upwards, but because of the placement of the WAN and LAN ports, it would be upside down and you'd lose the ability to see the LED's. The AC87U would also fit your criteria, but it would cost you ~$300.
