Separate SSDI for VPN and Regular ISP

Is it possible to have the following setup using Merlin on an ASUS AC68U?

Wifi SSID 1
Conected via PPTP/LPT2

Wifi SSID 2
Regular ISP

This way it would very easy for each appliance to connect to the specific SSID if it needs VPN or not. Any thoughts on how to this?

Thanks!

technically, yes, this could be done with asuswrt-merlin, but would require a thorough understanding of layer 2 and layer 3 concepts utilizing iptables and either brctl or ebtables, and could probably be done using a 'guest' AP rather than dedicating an entire wireless interface for the purpose, but this is no small task. furthermore, one could potentially dedicate the 3rd or 4th physical LAN ports for this with robocfg and vconfig. an even more exotic configuration could be bridging a wireless interface with a wired port for vpn. i'd be more helpful, but it's such a PITA when it means testing on my main router for something i'm not going to use.

tl;dr: No.

Before you begin creating custom tables look at the App from Astrill that will run using Merlin's firmware.

It allows you the flexibility to select by SSID which WiFi connections will run local vs. VPN. Many other options also.

If you use the Astrill App you are locked into using them as a VPN provider. They offer a very solid service but other providers I have tried have faster throughput.

Perhaps this is relevant?

although as the author states, it may work with PPTP/L2TP or need some careful tweaking ;)
