When I try to add case sensitivity to the samba.cfg file, it is not permanent - next re-enabling or samba restart is removing my setting.
How to make permanent?

You may want to post your router model and firmware version just in case there is a solution or suggestion specific to the router or firmware version.

Certain firmware files are recreated upon reboot or power on which is why changing some of them doesn't work.

There is no samba.cfg file. Do you mean smb.conf?

To add a line to the Samba config file in Merlin you should use a smb.conf.add file.

Ah, I completely forgot about this mechanism. Thanks.

My issue is solved now.
