Setting up OpenVPN Server on AC3200

New Around Here
Hi, I'm new to this forum and have no background on scripting knowledge but basically want to setup OpenVPN Server on my router so that I can connect back home to pull some files on my storage while on traveling.

I'm on merlin 378.53.

Trying to find some help to use the webGui to configure but couldn't find any in this forum. So go ahead using GUI:

Advance setting> VPN> OpenVPN Server > Server 1 > Enable VPN Server >Create username & password
after that export the client.vpn file.

I'm following the instruction on the GUI to download and configure Tunnelblick. Once done trying to connect but stuck at "Waiting for Server response" and failed to connect. Is there any steps that I missed out? The advance options/configurations are all aliens to me. Let me know if you could offer your help. Very much appreciated. Thanks.

Your error text is more or less self explaining. You apparently never reaches the server...Can You ping the WAN (public IP) of the router/server ?

Thanks Dalle. Yes I can ping the WAN IP no issue.

I've downgrade back to 53 and it works fine with no change of config. Still very strange to me why it doesn't work on 54 but I've not try 54-2

Tunnelblick was recently updated to require a larger DH key than is currently generated on the router. If you do a search on Tunnelblick you'll find a post on how to generate a larger key and install it.
(Merlin is working on a solution for the next release....)

In the mean time, users can simply go to the OpenVPN Server page. Go to the Advanced settings page, then click on the yellow links that mentions "Keys and certificates". In the DH field, paste the following:

Code:
-----BEGIN DH PARAMETERS-----
MIIBCAKCAQEA///////////JD9qiIWjCNMTGYouA3BzRKQJOCIpnzHQCC76mOxObIlFKCHmO
NATd75UZs806QxswKwpt8l8UN0/hNW1tUcJF5IW1dmJefsb0TELppjftawv/XLb0Brft7jhr

-----END DH PARAMETERS-----

Then stop, and restart your OpenVPN server.
