I would appreciate any advice on how to properly set up a static ip. My ISP was in yesterday and I now have a static ip. I was having all kinds of issues with the RT-AC87U conflicting with my 2Wire. I was losing WAN. It was very unstable. My ISP recommended a static ip as the way to go. It was the only way to truly put my 2Wire into bridge mode. DMZ mode was not doing the trick.

I am very inexperienced with this so please bear with me. After getting the static ip configured on the 2Wire it was time to get things working on the RT-AC87U. It is working but I don’t really understand how. I’m not in front of the router now so this description won’t be exact. I ran into two distinct issues. The first was when I would run the auto set up. It would auto detect the static ip but when I click next it would take me back to the start of the auto set up? It would auto detect the ip and gateway ect but it was not able to finish the set up. It is basically starting over and over and over. Giving up on that, the second issue was when I attempted to set it up manually. Somewhere in the WAN settings it has a drop down bar that lists automatic, static and a few more options. I select static ip in the drop down menu and I manually inputted my static ip, subnet, gateway and dns in the appropriate areas. I go to the bottom of the page, click apply. It does its thing, counting up to 100% but instead of making the change everything reverts back to an automatic ip?

Like I said, it is working now. I no longer get the red WAN light. But I do not think I have it set up correct. Could anyone help with instructions on how to set up the RT-AC87U for a static ip? Or provide a guide that could help me?

This must seem like the simplest question ever but I’d appreciate a push in the right direction.
