Signal path with Switch

Hi. This is probably a simple one, if someone can help please?

I have a NAS that is accessed by 2 Media Players. If I plug the NAS and a Media Player into the same Switch, a Netgear ProSafe GS108E, will the Media Player stream direct from the NAS via just the Switch? Or does the signal have to travel via the Router?

As long as both devices have IP addresses assigned, data will flow through the switch ports.
However, unless you have very high traffic on your network, the data flow isn't really going to make a significant difference in performance.

Thanks for the quick reply Tim. I don't expect any difference in Performance, I just wanted to know for another reason - which I am too embarrassed to admit here.
