Hello,
I would like to learn more on what equipment will be needed to set up a site-to-site WLAN. Building A is the main office with DSL internet. Building B is 568 feet away with direct line of site. We want to share our internet connection and in the future our Voip phone system with the one PC in Building B. We can set up roof mount antennas on both buildings. Both buildings are about 12-15 feet tall.
My thoughts are access point in bridge mode in ceiling in building A with cabled antenna to roof and wire to switch. Building B access point in ceiling bridge mode with cabled antenna to roof and wire to Linksys wireless router, then wire from router to PC. Plan on disabling the wireless aspect on that router. Have no need for it at this time, just bought it cause there was a good sale.
Does this seem like a workable solution? What type of antennas are needed? Will a 10 ft pole be high enough for mounting the antennas? We want to keep the access point/bridge within the building and run the antenna cable outside. Is there a recommended length of cable from access point/bridge to antenna? For this project, are there access point/bridges that are more suited to this type of connection than others?
I'm pretty clueless about this type of setup, so don't hesitate to point out the error of my ways.
Regards
