Slow Link Rate between 2 x AC66R in AC mode

Hello,

I am seeing slow link rate between 2 x RT-AC66R's that I own. Following are some details

Connection
- Router #1 connected to the cable model in Wireless Router mode and operates in 2.4G and 5G mode. Also has a guest network turned on
- Router #2 is connected to #1 in Media Bridge mode

Placement
- #1 is in study on first floor
- #2 is in basement that is about 40-50 feet away

Settings
- Both the routers are on the latest firmware 3.0.0.4.374_5517
- All the settings on both routers are all default

The Link rate between both the routers is 324Mbps. When I transfer the files from a USB drive attached to the #2 to a computer connected to #1, I get speeds of about 10 Mbps.

Any suggestions / help on why the speeds are slow?

Get an N 66 OR the AC 68 , THE ac 66 is the Edsel of routers
