New Around Here
I got a new netgear ac3000 router R7900 and started to have amazing signal issues. At some point speed on wlan and lan would come down to less than 1mbps (modem cable bringing it around 110mbps.

Went back to my older R6900 and it is (kind of) stable again; however it is getting around 30mbs; maximum 70. I changed cables and it persists...

I am considering getting a R7800 but am afraid of insisting with Netgear.

Any ideas? Only interference I could think of is a woofer box not too far from it...

how are you testing lan and wireless bandwidth ?
You will need to isolate from your ISP to figure out if the issue is with your equipment or the ISP modem/connection.
And you need to determine if it is a wireless issue only or wireless + wired or wired only.

Wan via dslrports out of a PC; lan via Xbox network diagnosis tool

How are the PC and xbox connected to the router, ethernet or wireless?

It would be useful to see if the internet gets slow even on a wired ethernet connection.

Hi, yes, Xbox is connected via ethernet.... PC mostly wireless but I tried with cable as well. I just changed the MTU configuration (testing with ping to packet integrity) and also used network analyzer to find best channel; still does not explain why Ethernet connections are so slow...

I read something about comcast having issues with IPv6... not sure if it could be a factor or how to troubleshoot it...

today, so far, it is more stable... wifi getting around 50mbps down. It drops a lot tough

Maybe I will try a factory reset tonight..

Why not just disable IPv6 across your home network? I do on my home network. Test and see if you have the same issue. This will eliminate any possible IPv6 problems.

I just went back to keeping it at "disable" in my router config.

I disable it in Microsoft Windows machines also. My switches I have turned off IPv6. I seem to have less issues. And speed seems better.

I am keeping on IPv4 now; still having issues. I ordered an Asus 86u model recommended here. Let’s see if it improves

I don't understand why you are ordering a router to fix an IPv6 problem?
Sorry... I made it all confusing; I have been facing drops and low speed with 2 different netgear; at some point I thought it could be a known issue with IPv6, but it was disabled since the beginning. I enabled it, and went back to having it disabled .

The connection issues still persists (yesterday, Xbox was reporting 28mbps via ethernet, today it is at 118). I ordered the ASUS to try it out for 30 days.. maybe it is something with netgear, I don't know.
