Slower than expected Wifi on 5ghz

Hi Guys,
wondering if anyone has any suggestions for my speed issues.
My scenario:
Fios 1gb internet -> Asus AC56U over gigabit link on WAN
running 380.70 - 5ghz, 80mhz channel width
But I can only get ~200mbps on speedtest or fast.com on 5ghz wireless across the desk from my macbook. ethernet speeds though are 600-700mbps.
Hardware acceleration is on.
only thing I see weird is I have 29 devices, but 200 active connections.

What is the WLAN link speed your devices are connected?

Assuming that you are on Merlin's firmware: find the link speed under System log / Wireless log - Rx/Tx & RSSI.
This is your limiting factor: No 1 Gbit connection for your wireless devices, right?
And: The throughput is around half of the link speed.

Plus: Your nice small AC56U only support wireless link rates up to 867Mbps - which would mean ~400 Gbit throughput at max. ;)
Only newer models have link rates up to 1734 Mbps and with 1024 QAM (5GHz) up to 2167 Mbps! But you need the compatible client devices as well to get that high link speeds...

Ah forgot about that page, and it explains a bit of it. Macbook has gigabit ethernet link, but only... wireless N - Wah wahhhh.
Iphone / ipad with AC though still only hit 150mpbs on asus 5ghz AC. It says its connected at 400mbps, how do i get them higher?
I can connect to the fios router on 5ghz and get 800+ on the phone/ipad

Well, there are two simple steps to get more AC wireless speed: ;)
1. Buy a new router which support newer/higher AC rates
2. Buy new devices which support newer/higher AC rates

On my AC87u's wireless setup the iPhones connect with 866 Mbps - the highest connecting devices I have - the rest is all steps down to 65 Mbps (8 years old).
