smbshare as dlna source

Someexception

New Around Here
hi guys first of all thanks for this incredibly nice project

what i would like to do is to add an smb share (my nas) as source for the built in dlna server.

my linux skills are very poor so i have no idea where to start, i know i cant do this over the web interface but can it be done by ssh/telnet whatever?

i found how to mount an smb share on the router, is there a config file for the dlna service where i could add this mount for the libary?

thanks for any hints how tos and help on my "quest"!!!

Can't you mount the share into a new folder that you share in dlna?

Ok good point BUT i tried arround with that and had no luck with dlna (no files found on clients) so i tried the following

i pluged in a usb stick, made a folder there and mounted my smb share into it, no files found on dln clients

then i tried the following, @ webinterface i make a folder on the sda (usb device) and share it via smb on the router, can access it via smb everything fine, back at putty i mount my "remote" smb share into that folder on the usb stick which i also did share (but) on the router via smb so for my understanding i shpuld now have a folder on the usb stick containing my files from the nas smb share but fail as soon as i mount something to this folder its not longer accessible and also not longer visible via the webinterface of the router

i suppose im doin something wrong here or this is prevented in any way.

Many NAS products have their own DLNA server, check if yours does.

Well "nas" was a little inaccurate, my nas is a windows server, well i could install any dlna server but i dont want to. I want to use an already available feature of my router to share my files via dlna but as it seems this is just not possible. Atm I dont understand fully why bcause it should not make that big diffrence in the code but maybe there happen magic things i dont understand...

Anyways using smb/nfs shares for logging/dlna/cloudservices and other built in features would be a major feature/advantage at least in my opinnion

Best regards!
