Sorry to dump this on the forum.

I've been using a RT-N66U, RT-AC87U with WRT-Merlin OpenVPN profiles without any issues.

I just received my new RT-AC86U spending 4 hours trying to get the OpenVPN profile working.

I use ExpressVPN, AirVPN, and ProtonVPN for the router and various devices. Here I'm using ExpressVPN on my new ASUS RT-AC86U.

I am able to connect to ExpressVPN but I cannot access any content at all, it can connect but nothing works. If anyone can see where I'm going wrong, I will be extremely grateful... Here are my screenshots:

For anyone seeing this post in the future to resolve this set "Compression" on the OpenVPN Profile to "Disabled" and at the end of your "Custom Configuration" (at the bottom of the OpenVPN Profile) add the following to the end:

comp-lzo no
push "comp-lzo no"

The problem was, I wasn't getting an ExpressVPN IP address, and without going into the technicalities this solved the issue. I have confirmed it on ipleak.net. Problem solved.

@JDB Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
