My AC88 router was acting strange, alot of ping /latency issues. I was not able to resolve the webgui or ssh. I rebooted it and still the same thing. I had to factory reset it to recover it. I did not have any WAN facing settings enabled as I use my SonicWall firewall for WAN side configuration.
Hopefully the router just crapped out, but otherwise it might have been compromised through non standard methods, scary...
