So I was having an issue with speed on my BT Fibre 900d/100u and BT guarantee 700mbps down and decided to chat to BT they were going to send out an engineer but I cancelled them and decided to do a factory reset on my router as a test.

I have a samknows.one box in my network that showed a consistent 300mbps over the last few months.

Did not install diversion or SkyNet but installed spdmerlin and a few of the ones that email me.

The strange thing straight after the reset and installation of spdmerlin the initial speed was showing 900mbps @8pm but then settled down as I added my devices back.

I may start a reset again next week and see what I see.

Look at your device stats. It sounds like one may be utilizing your network resources. Possibly an infection or hacked.

Good luck

Morris

Its not an infection, speed tests are running on the router itself and after a factory reset I get 939Mbps down and 100Mbps up and if I let it run for a couple of weeks it shows 350Mbps 99Mbps, That is some difference.

I am using a 500GB SSD as the attached storage so it can only be the router itself that's slowing down

Have you enabled the Traffic Shaper on the box?

just a heads up, I was told by Samknows when I got my fiber connection, that my box did not support speeds over 300. THey would not issue me a new one that did.

IF you mean QOS No and Traffic Analyzer/statistic No.

Those sound like asus settings. I was referring to the traffic shaping options on the samknows box.

Runner: Enabled - Flow Cache: Enabled

I would not know how to turn the off

In the graphic above the bottom one is from the router directly after a rebuild

Did 3 Factory resets and setup new Wifi SSID's, will leave this running as a test.
