I have the ASUS RT-AC88U.

When I run a speed test on the router (Adaptive General / QOS / Internet Speed), its like half the speed Im getting using my ISP speed test link.

I thought I would get similar results.

Also, when I test all the "servers nearby" or "auto" listed on the router, I am are more-or less getting the same speed for all of them.

Dont get it

Speed test that is located on the router is powered by speedtest.net and may have different servers than your isp. The routers speedtest should be more accurate than the speed test from a pc on eth or wifi.

Usually the issue you’re describing is the opposite way around. So that’s odd congrats.

Speedtest.net offers multi connect (by default) or single connection. I’m not sure if that would make a difference, as I’m not sure what your isp’s speedtest is doing.

I’d use a couple different speedtest tests from different sources eg. google and see the average on the devices connected to your router then compare it to the routers speed test. It could be that your isp’s speedtest may be an outlier and fudging the results. 🤷‍♂️

Fairly common issue when using the router GUI internet speed test page. When you enable certain features the router's speed test page may report slower speed due to a number of factors. Been some discussion on it over the years, see/use the forum search. Possibly appears to be due to the speed test using a single core of the router's processor on some routers, and possibly because when you enable certain features it disables or affects NAT Acceleration or other internal settings that affect how the speed test is performed.

Its why many will suggest checking the speed using a Gigabit or better capable PC wired to the router Gigabit or better LAN port rather than the router' s internal speed test page.

PS: These issues on why you may get a lower router based speed test were mentioned or explained by others in your other recent discussion post on low internet speed.
Note post #2 by eibgrad for example. Along with several others that mention having AiProtection enabled affected their router based speedtest results.
As mentioned in that other discussion, running a lot of addon scripts may also affect router performance and by extension the router speed test.

Also, the CPU on the RT-AC88U may not be fast enough to effectively run speed tests.

Just the opposite. The built-in speed test is CPU limited and often shows inaccurate results. Bloatware in firmware.
