Speed up Transmission downloads

Hi,
I am running Merlin's latest firmware on my asus rt-ac66u. I have a fiber optic internet connection of 50 Mbps. Torrent downloads are as fast it can get like 5.5 mb /s (wireless from my macbook pro). When i try to download the same torrent file via transmission on my router the average dl speed is 1.5 mbps . Is there a known issue as to why the the download performance is not as good as the transmission client on my computer ? anything i can do to make it better ?

The router has a 600 MHz MIPS CPU, your computer has a 3 GHz-ish x64 CPU. Also, your router accesses the HDD over USB, and your computer accesses it over SATA.

It's just not the same amount of horsepower.
