hello,

I use AC88U and AC68U routers for a little VPN action, noting real or exotic. Currently run Merlin 380.64_2, and all seems to run okay, but wish now to move up to a newer iteration of this FW but need stability. I read thru these forums of the plethora of issues with the various FW versions.

So, the damn question is: what FW version has proven the most stable at this time for the above two noted routers? And, why are there SO many iterations of this FW each with more hiccups than the previous?

Thats it for now.

380.66_2 works great for me on the AC88U. The VPN is very stable and does not have any DNS leak issues. I dont own a 68U however. Most issues come from people doing a dirty flash of the firmware. I tend to do a complete reset of the router to clear the NVRAM, flash new firmware and do another reset and reconfigure...works a treat.

380.66_2 (updated from 380.65_2 without factory reset) seems to be fine for me on an RT-AC68U.
I'm using it as a router/firewall/adblocker and openvpn server with compression (for slow external connections).
If you have problems, make sure you did a factory reset and configure all options by hand.

No issues to report using 380.66_2 on three AC88Us. Using OpenVPN all traffic on one, OpenVPN Policy rule on the other and native wan on the third.
