Basically I need to expand/upgrade/strengthen my parent's home business network. Bear with me while I try to explain this.

Here are the existing components:
3 PCs - wired
2 Laptops - wireless
2 networked printers

New compenents to be added:
1 NAS system to backup data on the 3 PCs

What we want to happen:
- PCs connected with static IPs
- Laptops connected dynamically and from a long range (G seems to be fine, but a little more coverage would be better)
- Printers connected with static IPs
- NAS (RAID 1) backing up pertinent files and folders on the 3 PCs once/week, we don't need full drive images

I need suggestions on equipment, connections and especially on NAS. I figure 2 500GB drives in RAID1 should be good.

If you need any other details, let me know

Thanks

I would buy two single-drive NASes for the price of one with two drives, and use the second to back-up the first.

You may have a look at Buffalo Linkstation Live, they are good. They also support printers connected on one of the two USB ports.

Not very speedy though, if that matters to you - about 14MB/sec on gigabit net.

For a business I would always recommend a good backup system, you need to think about protecting your files from virus damage or corruption.
