Support for OpenVPN server config.ovpn (not ccd) in replacing or adding method?

I'd like to ask for confirmation: For custom-config-files feature, does the replacing/adding method support OpenVPN server config.ovpn? Because on the wiki, I only see OpenVPN ccd files are listed.

If the adding method is not possible, how can I insert a line with special characters? Because I once read Merlin said that the helper.sh file doesn't support escape special characters.

For short, I just want to insert this one line to the server config.ovpn file:
push "route 192.168.4.0 255.255.255.0"
which has the special " characters.
