Synology 111 vs. Qnap 119+/II

Hi!

I'm trying to decide between those 3 models.
As for performance and price the 111 and 119+ seem identical (119 lacks dlna support but has more RAM though)

The 119 II is more expensive but has the faster CPU (2 GHz instead of 1.6)
But is ist worth the higher price tag?

I'd like to use it for media streaming to my AVR/PS3 mostly which may include MVK transcoding (if that's even possible)

The 119P II should probably hit about 100 MB/sec, assuming the HD you put in it can hit those speeds. Which is about a 50% improvement over the 119P +. However, if you are looking at the 119P II. I would probably look at a 2 bay nas. They aren't that much more expensive and do give you greater storage or safety depending on how you configure them.

Transcoding of video basically doesn't work very well on consumer level NAS and especially not on the least expensive models like the ones you are looking at. You should just convert them before trying to stream them.

So 119+ should be able to stream my HD content. Probably going for this one.
