Hi all - I have a few spare 1TB caviar black drives and thinking of picking up a Synology device (unsure of which yet, maybe DS214 or so). Any compatibility issues with the WD Black 1 TB drives?

I doubt it. SATA is SATA is SATA.
I have two 2TB drives in mine.. one green, one consumer.
I don't use them in RAID.

1TB is of course a bit small by today's standards!

Depends on the specific model and firmware of the drives.

SATA is SATA - but specific drives and firmware do matter.
