I need help deciding on an upgrade. I currently have an Iomega ix2-200 (2tb) raid1. My performance isn't too hot with this NAS. I get about 25-30MBps on a wired 1000mbps connection. I'm hoping to get at least double this.
It also has some very annoying "features" that I won't miss like whenever the media server is turned on it creates thumbnails for all my files.

At first I was thinking of upgrading to either the Qnap TS-219P II or the Synology DS213(not +). But I don't know if the slight increase in specs is worth the upgrade.
The ix2-200 has a Marvell 1ghz CPU with 256mb of ram. Where as the TS-219P II and the DS213 has Marvell 2ghz CPU with 512mb ram.
Is this significant ?

So my next logical step up would be either the Synology DS213+ or Qnap TS-269L-US.
Both of these have dual core CPUs. But the TS-269L is an Atom 1.86ghz and the DS213+ is a Freescale 1.067ghz.
Also the TS-269L has 1gb of ram where the DS213+ has 512mb.
Do these make a significant difference?
Anything else that I'm forgetting to ask that makes a decision easier or harder?

The additional RAM will come in to play if you are running additional applications.

The intel CPU does make the NAS a lot faster for file transfers and applications.

If you can, go for a 4 drive model.
