New Around Here
I've been looking for a multiwan router for some time that has enough throughput to handle the speeds that are available in big cities. For example in DFW where I live, I've got a 35 up and down Fios connection. I also have a 100 down and 5 up cable modem. My understanding of the bandwidth that I would need to support this speeds is the total of all the upstream and downstream together so that would be 35+35+100+5=175. Peplink Balance 380 will just about cover it, but we're talking $2300. The TP-LINK TL-ER5120 will do 350 worth of throughput for $250 which is quite attractive. I can't find any reviews of the product though anywhere on the net which is why I'm recommending that it get tested out here. Anyone have any experience with this router?

Just looking at this device and its specs, I 'm going to have to say its probably in the same category as my old 800VPN hotbrick.

It can do the things it claims, but not extremely well and not all at the same time.

For $250 you'd probably be better off looking at a zyxel USG 50. If you don't use the paid features you 'll get a crazy stable 100mbits of WAN throughput.

i tested TL-ER5120 3days
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20111114 Rel.52709
Hardware Version: TL-ER5120 v1.0

iperf: - 1 wan (static ip) -> Lan: max: 220 Mbit/s
if fdx (dual: concur up & down) = 113 Mbit/s dn + 103 Mbit/s up

* very slow router :(
short (in pic): http://tl-er5120.tk/

** when dn 75Mbit/s in one thread (wan:static ip, firewal & etc: off) CPU routers ~50%-52%

Thanks for sharing.
I tested 2 years ago Netgear FVS 336G, and found only ~60Mbit from Wan->lan
Tested also Zyxel USG200 and got ~ 80Mbit, but CPU was showing ~99%busy and Web interface was taking about 30 seconds to change.
Also rebooting USG200 takes over 1 minute.
Changing WAN's (failover) takes at least 30-40 seconds.

I'm using now a Draytek 2950, which goes ~80Mbit/wan, with interface changing OK, WAN failover tekes no more than 5 seconds, and reboot takes ~ 20 seconds, but I'm looking for something with at least 2 WAN's , with more than 300 Mbit/s per WAN (I'll upgrade soon to Gigabit WAN) ;)

Nope! If configured it correctly then you get better results than out of box. Actually quicker than my prior ESR9850,TL-WR1043ND, E4200V1, EA4500V1
