The difference between 1000BT and dual purpose uplinks ?

Hi all, i want to know to know the difference between 1000BT and dual purpose uplinks ?
i have WS-C2960-48TT-L ( says 2*1000BT uplinks ) can i use a fiber optic uplink to connect this sw to core ?
or is their any adaptor to conver FO to RJ 45 ?

For Catalyst switches, dual-purpose uplink ports means that you can use either the copper (8P8C aka RJ45), or the SFP port but not both.
i.e. If you had 2 dual-purpose uplinks, you will have 2 matching RJ45 and SFP port sets but can only use either port from each set.

1000Base-T would be Gigabit Ethernet (Fibre can be used for other non-ethernet connections).

In your case, you have only 2 RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet capable ports for connecting to other equipment. You can use these to connect to your core switch if you wish to.

If your only physical link to the core is fibre based then you will need to buy Fibre to Ethernet media converters. Just make sure you get Gigabit capable units assuming your core switch is GbE capable.

Sure. You can use either a 100BaseTx media converter or the more expensive 1000BaseTx media converter. If you have the 1Gb variety, then I'd suggest you weigh in the possibility of getting the ws c2960 48tc s instead (it's got dual-personality copper OR SFP option). If you get the 2960-48PST then you get 48-ports of PoE, 2 x 1Gb SFP ports PLUS 2 x 10/100/1000BaseTx copper ports.
