New Around Here
Hi All,

Having a bit of a dilemma working out which nas to buy. Looking at

Synology DS410
and
Thecus N4200PRO

I will be using it for the following tasks:

1. Streaming media to 2 xbmc devices
2. Fileserver for 1 pc and 1 laptop
3. Backups for pc {acronis images}
4. sabnzbd + sickbeard {so pc can be off}
5. iscsi for vmware lab {minimal usage}
6. Print server, single printer
7. MYSQL for xbmc devices

As you can see main use is to get my pc powered down overnight. The Thecus has way better overall specs and features although i am just a bit worried about some negative things i have read about them, and the interface looks pretty dated.

Main thing I want to know from owners of a Thecus is if they were able to get sabnzbd and sickbeard working easily, with the Synology there are many available packages to get this working along with large community support.

Will be running 4 x 2TB in Raid 5. Leaning towards the synology mainly due to large amount of user base and support for sickbeard etc. My head is telling me the Thecus is a way better device, quicker cpu, more ram, 2 nics, ups backup, hot swap hdd bays need i list anymore :)

Help me work this out plz.

Cheers

Specs won't help you if it doesn't run the apps you want. If app support is more important, go with the Synology.
