thomson dcm475 or a thomson dcm476

hi everyone I am new here what a great site.i hope this is the right place to post this ? I have a Thomson dcm 476 and I want to change my internet provider and they say the Thomson dcm476 will not work with there internet but the dcm475 will . the thing is I have read up on these modems and they seem to be almost the exact same . can anyone help on this or know if there is a difference .here is a list of what they say will work

Cablemodem requires specific support by ISPs. If the ISP doesn't support the DCM476, then there's nothing you can do about it, you will have to switch to a supported model.
