New Around Here
Hi,
I have the GT-AX6000 router. I'm able to enable the parental controls and block certain types of content on specific devices with no issues. However having used a TP-Link router in the past, I recall this was able to set times for when restrictions would apply, which I found really useful.

I want to avoid outright blocking a device from connecting, or blocking certain types of content all the time, but instead have the affected devices connect at all times for legitimate purposes (for children), but then be blocked from certain types of content/sites/services (games, social media, streaming) except for during certain preset time windows.

This could be achieved with the rather basic parental controls on my TPLink Archer router, but I can't seem to find a way to achieve this with my new Asus router. I don't have Merlin installed and not sure if this would be of help in this instance?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

What firmware are you running on the GT-AX6000?
In addition to being able to configure the Parental Controls to block by specific time blocks, Asus includes the ability to block by "Web & Apps Filters".
  • Web & Apps Filters allows you to block access to unwanted websites and apps.

If you need additional blocking capability then one may want to look into using Add-On scripts (if running Asus-Merlin firmware) and or using DNS based filtering like Skynet or Pi-Hole.

I'm on the latest firmware... 3.0.0.6.102_34810_404. While there is a time schedule function, that seems to be as I described, a schedule of when the selected devices can and cannot access the internet, not time blocks that control when the finer grained site/app/service access are effective. I believe the web & app filters also don't have a dimension of time/schedule to them?

Can someone please confirm the scripting capability offered through Merlin would allow me to achieve the desired effect?
