TM-1900, cant upgrade to latest merlin?

So, I did the whole rigamarole and downgraded the Tmobile fw, got the mac addresses and secret code into the new CFE file, flashed all that, then flashed Merlin FW 376.44 because the newest wouldn't flash. Erased NVRAM, all that jazz. Everything looks like it's a go, however upgrading through recovery mode doesn't give any errors, but after a reboot it still says 376.44. Flashing through the firmware upgrade page on the router never gives an error either, but after manually rebooting, it still says 376.44. Pulling my hair out here. I've gone over the steps till my eyes bleed but I just don't see what I'm missing. Has anyone else successfully been able to flash the latest merlin fw?

I think you have to first flash 378.55 (or was it .56) first?

Thank you. Not sure which one did it, I flashed them both, buy now I'm on the latest. Not bad for $60.
