Depending on the source, some 8-16k known TP-Link routers have been taken over by a botnet.
Upgrade your firmware, if there is one, or throw away that old TP-Link router.

I don't know what it is, but it damages the routers and some are out of warranty or EoL.

I have not looked into the specifics of the tp-link exploit but instead of e-waste wouldn't it make more sense to install openwrt (assuming the exploit is firmware and not haredware vector)?
