Trying to extend wireless Coverage - WHNDE111 & WNDR3700 ?

I have a WNDR3700 that I use to wirelessly connect iPad, iPhone, XBOX, PS3 and a macbookpro to, as well as wired directly to 2 iMacs.

I have recently moved my xbox upstairs diagonally from my router, and would like to strengthen the signal.

I bought a WHNDE111 off amazon and I'm having problems getting it to work, and just read something that made me think its not going to.

I've tried "adding WPS client" from WNDR3700 control panel with the PIN method, but it timed out after 4 minutes, and I had the 111 sitting less than 1 foot from the router.

I can't use WEP encryption with my iPad/iPhone.

How else am I able to connect these two and 'extend' my wireless network? I assume I will have to use the 5g component on the 3700 since the 111 is 5g only

The WNHDE111 is not a repeater. It can act as an AP or as a bridge.

You can use another WNDR3700.
