Hi all
i bought a DSL-AC88U the other day to replace my aging Merlin enhanced RT-N66U. My big issue with it other than its not got merlin on it is it has a known issue with the 2.4Ghz networks. One of the solutions for the non DSL boxes (RT-AC88U) is to load the Merlin firmware.

Now i have thought about sending the DSL back and getting the RT to flash. but i was wondering if i could just flash the DSL and turn it into an RT.
I don't need the DSL portion it was a nice to have function meaning 1 less plug and device in my hallway.

Now before all you folks ask WHY would i want to do that well simply the RT version is £30 more expensive and if i can turn my DSL version into an RT then i get all the function and save my pocket some harm. (yes i'm Scottish)

No you can't flash it with Merlin, internally it has different hardware (even if you ignore the DSL part).

ok thanks.
My poor wallet will have to take the hit then.
or i might go for the RT-AC86U
The RT-AC86U is the better router anyways. Faster processor, newer kernel. You lose 4 Ethernet ports not a deal breaker for me personally.
