Two routers same network

Hi, I’m trying to connect 2 routers in the hope of getting increased Wi-Fi coverage and to provide additional wired ports, upstairs, for my son’s gaming.
There are lots of tutorials online but all seem to give differing methods. I tried one method but it didn’t work, I’m on my second method and initially thought I’d cracked it but now I have problems!
I’m using a NETGEAR nighthawk as the main router and a NETGEAR N600 (wndr3700) upstairs connected via Ethernet cable.
I’ve attached the method I followed.
My wired connection from the nighthawk to my firestick keeps dropping out every 10-15 minutes or so.
Does anyone know why? Any help gratefully received!

Don't bother doing that "LAN to LAN" method, it's probably unnecessary. Go into the wndr3700 and configure it as an Access Point. See pages 81/82 of the manual. I don't have experience of the wndr3700 specifically but with most APs the LAN ports still function as normal.
