Having issues with fifa and finally got the paid version pingplotter.
Results are eye opening.
Hidden nodes with icmp are showing up sporadically when testing with udp ping.

Thing is some of these nodes are showing pings of 1000ms +
I have attached a screen shot.

It's irrelevant what the intermediate ping times are, the only one that matters is the final destination and even that can sometimes be misleading.

Intermediate devices may respond slowly or not at all to ICMP requests as you can see from the nodes that have 100% packet loss.

If one particular node is responding slowly and that same delay is carried through to all the following nodes then that would indicate a problem at that particular point.

So a hidden node with icmp...ie.no data at all except the ip address...then shows up with udp but shows up with massive response times is only a problem if the next node is showign an increased response time..and so on?

But what if this node switches to another node because it is busy.
This happens a lot btw

Look at the count numbers on this one for example.

Correct.

I'm not sure I follow you. The count numbers are just the number of packets sent to that node, it doesn't necessarily indicate any kind of rerouting. If certain nodes are replying slower to pingplotter then over time pingplotter will be sending fewer packets to the node. See the output of WinMTR below which shows the same sort of thing.

Re routing maybe the wrong term.

If its not going via the exact same nodes every time then what is causing it to go through different nodes?
What possible affect can this have?....

What i trying to find out is why there is one sided delay in game like fifa.

People on here before have said its ea etc but i dont buy this.
My connection was ok 2 weeks ago for fifa p2p.
Just the odd day here and there which i put down to other stuff like bad weather or my isp having a silly day.

But last 3 weeks its gone haywire.

I bought pingplotter expecting to see differences between icmp and udp ping and i have.

some nodes which are constantly hidden with icmp show up with udp...and they are showing horrendous pings at times.

I also have the graphs up whilst playing and there seems to be a connection when udp on these nodes with high udp pings go mental...ie.bad gameplay.

why woudl they show up with udp?

why are they hiding all info?i can understand a node not accepting icmp at a given time or at all.
this reeks of hiding issues so peopel dont complain.
am i wrong?

The internet is designed so that if one route becomes congested or unavailable then it will find another route. This is one of the fundamental principles of the internet and why it is so successful. But all this should be transparent to the end user. There is only a problem if it effects the endpoint.

Neither of your screenshots show a problem as the final ping time is ~60ms.

It would be more useful to see a screen shot when the problem is occurring.

That was when i was having issues.
Just realised whats happened here.

level 3 madrid is normally before level 3 amsterdam as hop 9....on this its on hop 3 as well lol.

so my packets in this case were doing a loop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my isp have admitted issues but occasionally i get issues on odd days.
will dig out some more when i had issues...
