Curious product. (I have no stake in this company)
Primarily a media player with HD TV decoders and decoders for music and photos.
But it runs Linux, has a user-upgradable internal hard disk, standard 1TB disk, external USB 2 and USB3 disks, has a NAS server and a web server. Has gigE LAN and WiFi.

So you connect its HDMI or component to the TV, join it to the LAN, and it seems to be both a media player, file server, etc. Says it does UPnP as a media server on the LAN.
Has a web browser for the TV too, though it probably doesn't have Adobe Flash. But many web sites might work.
PS: here's one review
