UI Not Responding?

Mr Monkey

New Around Here
I've run into this problem a lot lately where I will try to log in to the UI for some reason and it doesn't respond. I don't know if it's related buy by USB drive attached to it stops responding as well. I do get an internet connection still, just can't connect to the UI. Only way I've found to fix the problem is to reboot the router. I'm using Merlin's latest on the AC66U.

Any help?

Is there heavy network use like a Backup to NAS or a Bittorrent Client running?

No nothing. The problem doesn't correlate with anything else. It's just after a few days or so that it stops responding. Obviously I could set up a script to reboot the device each day or something like that, it just doesn't fix the original problem.

Just a wild guess, not sure what happens if you set it.
In Administration/System did you set "Only allow specific IP"?

I've been noticing the same issue when TrueImage or Paragon runs a full backup to a NAS device. The GUI becomes unresponsive and the only way to get the GUI back is to reboot the router. I'm running a RT-AC66U with Merlin's 374.40 build.

Plug the ethernet cables of both devices into a Switch, bypassing the Router.
It will offload the Routers burden...

Hi,
Did you run ipscan when it acts like that? Tried to ping the router?

Hi,
I don't know how many clients are actively connected to your router, when it happens start disconnecting the devices one at a time, hoping to see which one frees up the router. One way of trouble-shooting a problem is by eliminating things one at a time to narrow down the cause. Some problems are easy to see and figure out, some are clueless but have to start some where. Two most basic is over heating and poor power supply(AC adapter). Often times we overlook most basic stuffs.
