Updates to Mesh nodes

Newby here. When I set up my new Merlin based Routers and added Mesh nodes, the instructions were to make sure the nodes were using the latest firmware, reboot to factory settings, do NOT log into the node but instead let the main Router find and add them as Mesh nodes.

Now I am getting a "firmware update" notice inside of the main Router and it is one of my Mesh nodes.

When I then attempt to update that node, the next screen is asking me to log into that particular node, but that seems to be against the original instructions.

Question: Do I log into the Mesh Node and perform the firmware upgrade? Or, do I remove the node and manually update the firmware, reset to factory settings and re-add the node through the main routers Mesh utility (like the original instructions?)

To manually upload firmware to a node from within the router webUI, select node Upload and follow the prompts... you'll login to the node using the same admin credentials created for the router.

If you want to clean up the new firmware afterward, Remove the node from the AiMesh to automatically Reset the firmware to its defaults (you do not reboot to defaults... you Reset to defaults), and then Search/Add the node back to the AiMesh.

Setting up AiMesh and updating a AiMesh node are two different things. The following link is the general steps Asus recommends for updating AiMesh Node firmware (may apply only to stock Asus firmware).
Ok. Thank you for the response and answer.

I was just concerned that the use of Merlin as my firmware might be different than stock ASUS firmware instructions.

Thank you. I will remove the node and Search/Add from within the main Merlin based router.
