I am running a DS718+ with the original 2 GB RAM. Now I would like to upgrade the RAM. Officially, according to Synology, it should work with 1 x 4 GB to a total of 6 GB. However, various posts (https://blog.kiesel.io/synology-ds718-arbeitsspeicher-auf-10gb-16-gb-aufruesten/) and YouTube clips (
) have reported that it should also work with 2 x 8 GB modules to 16 GB. The RAM module “HyperX Impact 1866 MHz” was recommended for this (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00VMCUAIM?tag=k4l-21&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1). Unfortunately, these modules are no longer available. Are there any alternatives?

for what it is worth - if you're running just DSM with the default apps, you really don't need more...

VM's and Docker's would be the only reason - and there, just note that both are time-late compared to running a host over on a NUC or other X86-64 machine.

I have a DS-723+ with a couple of 8TB drives and two 4GB DDR4-2466 ECC S0-DIMM's, with ECC, I had to jump over to Crucial...

Syno will always prefer you buy their RAM from them... but you don't need to...
