New Around Here
Hi,

I am thinking about getting some better network equipment.

My setup right now is:
D-Link - DIR-855 Wireless Router
D-Link - DGS-1008D Gigabit pnp switch

My Equipment is:
1 PC - Allround use, Office and gaming
1 NAS Synology 1511+ Packed with alot of BluRay movies
1 NAS Synology 207+ Where I store my music, and backup of programs, images and more.
1 DuneHD (Movie Streamer from 1511+ NAS)
1 Boxee Box (Movie Streamer from 1511+ NAS)
3 Sonos (Music Streaming, over 207+ NAS and Spotify)

In the near future, IPtv, and maybe a fibre internet connection, and if that happens, I might setup a Web-Server, and gaming server.

All units is connected with CAT-5e cable.
Wireless is for mobile phone, iPad, Laptop etc.

What I would like though.
a VPN router with wireless connectivity (I have considerate: cisco-rv220w)
a Manageable Switch (not sure which yet)

So, What would I like to achieve, and is this just plain overkill.?
I could setup VPN through one of my NAS servers.
but wouldn't it be more ideal to use a hardware VPN.?

the possibility for VLAN would be nice.
I am considering using both netports on my NAS servers, so for one VLAN, accessing the NAS servers, no passwords would be necessary, while for the "Guest" VLAN, a password is required.
Maybe I would go with Link Aggregation, who knows.

Better NAT and firewall options.

Manageable switch.. why.?
Well. for QoS, and for the ability to look through statistics and logs, for debugging.

I am not a complete noob in routers and Switches, I have done some setup and debugging in telnet on some Cisco Routers at work (My main work is in Unix though)

When transferring files between my NAS and PC, I am quite sure that it is my network that is the bottleneck,
and sometimes, the network seems rather "laggy".

Any advice would be nice
PS. I would like to stay within a budget of 4-600$
