UPnP on my RT-AC87U randomly stops working, preventing applications utilizing UPnP from working properly.

This happens on both my Windows 7 and Windows 10 computers.

System Log - Port Forwarding doesn't show any new forwards while UPnP is not working. Also old forwards stays in the list while this happens.

A reboot temporarily fixes the problem, but after some time it stops working again.

I am currently running Asuswrt-Merlin 380.61.

I have tried to download a fresh copy of the firmware, performed a factory reset, and configured settings manually afterwards.

I have also uninstalled Eset Smart Security and disabled Windows firewall, opening up all inbound and outbound ports to rule out the firewall being the issue.

Has anyone else experienced this ?

upnp on asus arm devices is flaky at best
its working but is only seen around 10% of the time by devices for some reason
3mins or so after initial boot
be it asuswrt or merlin

this really needs to be looked into by asus or merlin
i have ruled my network out by going wireless
and its still the same

xbox 360 / xbox one / ps4 / ps3 / demonwareportmapping all have issues finding it a few mins after boot up

Good to know I am not the only one.

I sent Asus a support ticket regarding this, and got the "We are not aware about any problems with UPnP. Try to downgrade your firmware" reply.

Yes, it really blows! Same in Linux!

Forgot to mention that when I enabled the UPNP in the "wan settings" bubbleupnp server became visible in the bubbleupnp app for Android, but because I use OpenVPN I'm not secure about opening ports for UPNP, and how it works.
