USB modem - supported - hangs

Hi I have a USB 4G modem supported by Asus (Huawei E3372). I have tried other ones as well but the problem is that they all hang on some web pages, it just stalls. If I connect it directly to my laptop it works fine. So I can deduct that it has to do with the router itself, AC68. I use Android tethering mode.

Why is this, MTU problem or something else?

What's this "Android tethering mode"? Is that a setting you make in the USB 4G modem? Are there alternative settings you have tried?

Does it always hang on the same websites or is there apparent randomness?

How do you "fix" it; do you have to reboot the router or do you simply close and re-open the browser?

It might sound daft but if you try a different browser does it hang on the same websites?

And is it independent of the device on which you're browsing eg it happens on devices other than the laptop?

Anything of interest in the syslog?

If I make a connection with vpn, It works fine. So maybe this is a clue to what is wrong??

The IP address you are being assigned when you connect directly with the modem may be blacklisted.

If you are using dnssec, disable it or make sure you on the latest 380.68_4

I'm assuming you already tried changing tcp mss as in the thread you referenced (that's the only other thing I can think of).

Well there seem to be many people with this problem and nowhere has anyone found a solution. tcp mss I am not sure what that is. I can access all sites through vpn but without it some sites just hangs forever.

Were you able to get this issue resolved? I am having the same problem.
