USB port not recognizing 3.0

I have been trying to get a flash drive to be recognized as 3.0 when plugged into the port on the front of my RT-AC3200. I have tried three flash drives and an HDD and the router always sees them as 2.0.

3.0 is selected on the interface.

Any idea why this is not working?

thx

What is the firmware you are running on the router? When was the last time the router was rebooted? When was the last time the router was reset to factory defaults after flashing the firmware you want to use on it?

What USB drives have you used? Brand? Age? Capacity? What file format are they using? Do they have anything on them?

Running the latest (and last) Merlin version for my router. Latest drive attempt is a Sandisk Ultrafit 32g. I have tried Kingston, Samsung and another Sandisk. Formatted this drive in the router to ext4. Router rebooted warm and cold several times.

Have not done a factory reset.

Ever? Time to do one then. :)

And then just reload my config file? Guess that will also wipe out Diversion and Unbound.

No. Do not reload any saved config file. That will negate the reset entirely.

See the M&M Config and ideally, the Nuclear Reset guides in the link in my signature below in addition to the following link to get your router back to a good/known state.
