So, due to some excessive electrical costs, I am now trying to allow my router to shut down my external drive during the period I should be sleeping. Is there an easy way to do this. I want to make sure I don't just power kill the router as that could be bad. Simplest way would be to add a power outlet timer to the router...but that would be a hard power off. Any ideas?

For your perspective, if I have all my stuff off in my house...my electric bill alone is $90...no heating or cooling.
