Use Host Name instead of found name?

JohnD5000

When clicking the Clients - View List button on the Network Map page, the list uses the 'found name' on the device instead of the host name (which was defined on the LAN - DHCP SERVER page). Is there any way to get this list to use the host name?

Thanks

nope but you can just change the name to something you remember or understand or equates to what the device is by just clicking on the clients on the right hand side and a popup window will appear and you can change the name there

Thanks! (Did it and it works). Will this stick between reboots or will this renaming be lost? Also, why not just use the host name if we already went to trouble to setup a hostname in the DHCP Settings? What is the host name used for then in Merlin?

should stick until you have to factory reset

not 100% sure why but its something to do with the base coding i think , not something merlin can do anything about

at least the asus routers recognize most thing to at least give them some sort of name , other manufactures just give the "unknown" as the name

Networkmap has priority over the DHCP-allocated hostname, because Networkmap is a "user-friendly" name that someone might want to configure, instead of some pseudo-random DHCP hostnames as generated by some devices, like Android devices.
