I realize i would need a network tap to monitor the traffic between the linux pc and the net. But I do not have one. However, the windows pc has two network ports. So I need to
1) connect the linux pc to the windows pc ethernet jack 1
2) connect the windows pc ethernet jack 2 to the router leading to the net
3) configure the windows pc to take the traffic from ethernet jack 1 and send it to ethernet jack 2.
4) start wireshark and ask it to capture the traffic from ethernet jack 1.

How do I do #3?

I figured it out so I though I'd post for the benefit of those who have the same question. Bridge the connections. Now I can monitor the traffic.
