hi all,

I have a RT-AC66r and I also have a 4G (LTE?) android Verizon Wireless cell phone. it has one of those little chips in it that u can move from phone to phone or device to device. it is an unlimited plan.

what I want to know is:

1. do I need to tell Verizon wireless everytime I move the chip from device to device? do they all need to be registered? do I have to get them from Verizon or can they be 3rd party? do I have to pay VZ for each piece of hardware separately that I use the chip in? (like, not the actual hardware purchase, but some kind of ongoing cost or subscription fee or similar)

and

2. more importantly, what kind of "usb dongle" or whatever can I buy / do I need to make my router be able to use that, plus the chip, to be the de facto "cable modem"? is there a list somewhere of what brands / models, etc work with both this router and Verizon?

whatever light anyone can shed would be great!

thanks!

edit: I only found this link via a search:

i should add I'm in the USA, more info:

in the router, on the USB page it says this:

"3G/4G

Switch to USB mode to use a 3G/4G USB wireless dongle or Android phone as a USB modem. Support"

not sure what "switch to usb mode" means, or what it refers to? the phone? the router? switching to usb mode, but from what? confusing.

linking to this:

http://www.asus.com/event/networks_3G4G_support/#RT

https://www.asus.com/campaign/2013/networking/tutorials/

and I see this, which I think applies to me:

Verizon Wireless _ USB760 Modem _ Verizon
PCD _ UMW190 USB Modem _ Verizon

...so, first of all, I don't see any info about how to use the phone itself. I guess later i'll plug the phone into the router and see. but secondly, there is no more info, just those two products are listed. both products seem to be 3G only, and presumably don't accept my 4G chip, but I'm not sure.

so again, if anyone has done anything with this, I'd love to hear about it. thx.
