I just picked up a Asus RT-N66U today and so far it's working a lot better than my previous Netgear WNDR4500. I'm having issues with the VPN though and hope someone hear might have some ideas what's going on.

I've configured the VPN on the router, enabling NAT pass-through for everything except 'Enable PPPoE Relay', but VPN clients are unable to access any systems on the network. Samba support is enabled and broadcast support is set to 'both'.

The VPN clients are all running OS X (various versions, from 10.6.8 through 10.8.2). I can browse the internet through the VPN and also access the router's configuration. No other devices on the network can be accessed.

I'm running firmware 3.0.0.4.270 on the router, which is the most recent.

Any ideas what's going on here?

Configure your router DHCP to free a block of IPs, and use that IP block on the VPN configuration page. If you use two different subnet (for example, 192.168.1.xxx and 192.168.10.xxx), then you will be unable to reach your LAN device unless you configure a static route.

For example, set DHCP to allocate 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.199, and on the VPN config tell it to use 192.168.1.200 through 192.168.1.209.

Ugh ... I feel like an idiot. I didn't realize the default IP range was 192.168.10.X for the VPN. I'll blame lack of sleep for that silliness.

Thanks.

id like to keep them on different subnets but have no clue about routes. anyone know how to add one?
