New Around Here
I wanted to be able to wake my computer over Internet via my smartphone so I started searching found lots of sites with instructions but none worked over Internet at least for me.

A site recommended using Asuswrt-Merlin firmware which has Wake On LAN option so I installed Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.264.22 firmware (the latest as of this post) configured Wake On LAN and port forwarding but still can't get the computer to wake over Internet using smartphone, I even applied the following fix/workaround WOL Script Wake Up Your Webserver On Internet Traffic (replaced IP, MAC address and port with mine) but no luck.

The computer wakes from local network when packet is send from another local computer and using smartphone when connected to home WIFI so configuration seems to be OK but I want to be able to wake it over Internet through smartphone using one of the available apps, is this possible if so all suggestions are welcome.

I am using Asus RT-N66U router flashed with Merlin firmware.
Windows XP SP3 with all updates as of this post.
Dell laptop with Broadcom 440x Integrated Controller driver version 4.6
I have enabled and using Asus DDNS.

I tried following Android apps with no luck.

Make sure your modem is in bridged mode, and not in router/modem mode, in which case it would act as a firewall in front of your router.

My modem is Motorola SB6121 it has no configuration option.

Motorola modems do have a webui, unless your ISP remotely disables it (Videotron does that here).

However that modem has no routing functionality, so it is already bridged.

My ISP is Charter Communication, I called them tech support was told modem configuration is disabled.

Asus AiCloud works for me ...

Tried Asus AiCloud app didn't work (AiCloud is enabled) it didn't even wake computer from local WIFI maybe have to use official Asus firmware?

Asuswrt-Merlin is 100% compatible with the AiCloud app.

Go the main config page of the router. Tell me the first number (xxx) of your WAN IP

Thank you for confirming Asuswrt-Merlin compatible with the AiCloud app.

My WAN IP is 24.205.xx.xxx

Tried few more apps was not able to wake computer over Internet.

Asus AiCloud app shows the computer Online and Offline but it doesn't shutdown or turn on the computer (WOL).

The only solution I found is to remote login into router's GUI and wake the computer that way but this requires few steps and takes long.

RMerlin would it be possible to create a shortcut link to Asuswrt-Merlin WakeOnLan option and have it as app?
