I was wondering if there is any way to trigger WOL AUTOMATICALLY via router (Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.270.24 / RT-N66U) when there is an activity during the port direction? The scenario is the following: The computer in the LAN is in a sleep state (but ready for WOL). There is a port direction set up in the router from WAN > LAN to this particular computer for some services (like video streaming, webDAV etc.). Any time when there is a request from the WAN side to this particular computer, it should wake up.

ps: in the current setting I need to login to the router via WAN in order to use the WakeOnLAN and thereafter could use the port direction, which is a little bit cumbersome and painful procedure.

Look on these forums and on the Wiki for instructions on how to do this.

And let me repeat the same warning I always say: this is a BAD idea. People who didn't heed that warning configured it anyway, and came back a few days later to complain that their computer kept randomly awaking itself. The Internet is filled with background noise coming from port scanners. A computer that gets awaken by a single packet sent to a specific port WILL constantly get itself turned back on at random times as it gets hit by port scanners, making the whole idea pointless.
