If ever you this kind of thing happen, remove the board from the plastic casing and clean it with with pure spirits. I had none on hand so i used a horse hair brush and poured metho on the board to rinse and clean spots on the board that smelt and looked marked.

I'm assuming this was due to urine on the serial header, as i've read that having any connection on this dead locks boot.
